Greetings from another nice day in Palm Springs, CA – weather was in the low 80′s with a light breeze…
For breakfast, Mitch whipped up some biscuits and gravy and scrambled egss.. yummy!! While eating breakfast we discussed what we wanted to do today – after several ideas we (John, Mitch and myself) decided on driving to the Joshua Tree National Park near 29 Palms, CA. The trip there (all 25 miles of it) was uneventful thanks to the Garmin GPS and Mitch’s guidance.
At the national park we stopped at various scenic overlooks, interesting rock clusters and a two mile trail that lead to an abandoned gold mine. I was up to the two mile walk each way and John said that if I wanted to do the walk – go for it. The walk there was mostly uphill and not the easiest trail because of lots of loose rocks and sand. John and Mitch made it 3/4 of a mile before turning back. I made it to the mine after seventy minutes of walking. Here’s some pictures I took of the mine:
After I returned from the mine (total walking time was around 2 hours), we then drove over to see the skull rock area. Here’s some pics:
The drive home was uneventful. We were all a bit hungry – so we made a stop at Del Taco in 29 Palms – it hit the spot…
Not much going on tonight… just relaxing, catching up the blog, facebook, watching TV, reading a Book and etc….
