Greetings from a warm, but calm evening in Milwaukee…

Last evening after I finished doing blog posting and ordering groceries on PeaPod, the weather took a turn for the worst… It started to thunder, lightening, and rain really hard. Then the tornado siren went off… not a good sign. I turned into the local AM radio station and listened to their coverage of the storm while watching some people running into the laundry room for safety…

I put my shoes and rain coat on and listened to the radio coverage for a few minutes. A tornado was probably on the ground 40 miles south west of here… but nothing close to West Allis – so I stayed in the MoHo. By this time the wind was rocking the RV pretty good and Prince had taken refuge in his carrier box. I listened to the radio some more and the worst part of the storm was cutting across Milwaukee 5 to 10 miles south of the RV park – in the general area of the Milwaukee Airport. I stayed up and watched the storm and listened to the radio until 11:00 pm when they resumed regular broadcasting and went to sleep… This morning the news reported that the tornado did lots of damage to Eagle, WI – 6 homes were flattened and lots more were damaged… Eagle, WI is the home to Old World Wisconsin living history museum that also received damage and is temporarily closed.

Today my work day went by quickly. I was quite busy with lots of little tasks to do on multiple projects. When I get one task done, another one came up… It will probably be like this for a few more days while several of my projects are tested and changes are asked for…. Around lunch time I road along with two coworkers to a Pick N Save grocery store and picked up a few things for my cube – instant decaf coffee, mint tea and some pretzels. They like to get lunch from the salad bar – not a bad idea – I should try it sometime – but today I had a Kashi frozen dinner waiting for me in the fridge…

Tonight I did my normal routine… the gym was a bit busy, but was able to use one of the TBT (Total Body Trainer) machines – and did 30 minutes at level 16 – the highest level I’ve done to date… it was not easy and at the end of 30 minutes I ended up a big sweaty mess… but it did feel good… The machine starts out easy, gets progressively harder then starts getting easier again towards the end. At the most difficult part of the routine, it feels like you are stepping through quicksand – have to put my weight into it to keep the machine going…. Did not tan tonight… wanted to get back in time for PeaPod delivery…

The groceries will be delivered sometime between 8:00pm and 10:00pm – the time slot I choose. I spent a few minutes cleaning house by vacuuming and doing dishes… don’t want the delivery person to think I’m a slob or anything ;) I’m also washing my work out clothes in the Moho’s washer/dryer – they make the perfect sized load for it… Each time I use the washer/dryer I keep thinking about it breaking (impending doom) and how John would be unhappy if it did…..

A few blog postings ago I explained how the carnival rides are setup right next to the RV park for the State Fair… will tonight I discovered they are also setup there for Greek Fest this weekend… So will get a taste of what having rides there will be like… but I am looking forward to Greek Fest – it is billed as “the largest Greek Resturant” in the city – has free admission and lots of good food… sounds like fun…. John and I will have to check it out…

Update: Peapod just delivered groceries – everything was as expected – their “Chef Express” heat and eat meals look really good. Felt a bit goofy having a big van pull up to delivery groceries when there is a grocery store 2 miles away :) But they did give me a coupon for free delivery of groceries for the next 60 days… and their website does remember what I ordered before and I can filter out unhealthy foods from the selection list when ordering…..
