The heat wave finally broke today – had highs in the mid-80′s. Felt cool compared to the past few weeks.
Jim’s Appliance came and picked up the old appliances this morning. They explained that the other guy had gotten lost yesterday – went to south 9th street, instead of south 19th street. Assume they take any usable parts out of the appliances and then sell what’s left to the metal dealers. Metro Waste came and picked up the carpeting and doors left on the curb – as they said they would per yesterday’s phone call. Think if we had to do this again, I would have them drop off a dumpster.
Tonight I spent two hours scrubbing dirty walls in the apartment. Don’t like the idea of painting over food, grease and general wall grime. Used a microfiber rag with bucket of water/Pine Sol to scrub with. It worked well – was surprised how easily most of the grime came off. About every wall I needed to get clean water – it was that bad.
Here’s some pictures from today:
Tomorrow evening will continue to wash down walls. Once I get that done will start preparing the popcorn ceiling for a new coat of paint. Hope I can just use some Swiffer Dusters to remove any loose dust. We really don’t want to paint the ceiling, but the kitchen area ceiling is too soiled to leave as is. We will want the entire apartment to have a matching ceiling color – so much fun…
