Greetings from our last evening in St. Louis, MO….

Our departure is starting to feel sad… having to say our good-bye’s to friends, neighbors and co-workers…. I’m also looking forward to the new job in Milwaukee, WI…. so it is a strange evening for me…. happy, sad…. sad, happy…..

John, Derek and John.... It's a John sandwich for me...

Last evening we went out to supper with John and Glenna to Joanie’s. My supper was not “Seattle Sutton” approved, but I could have done much worse… Had a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The sandwich was just ok, and I ate only 1/2 the fries because the sandwich filled me up. My favorite part was the extra naughty side of blue cheese dressing that I dipped the fries into… Stepped on the scale this morning and my weight was in the realm of what it was the day before… It was fun spending time with John and Glenna… The two John’s talked about diesel trucks, the cost of RV’s (caravans) and Ford diesel trucks in Australia. Part of the expense is having to change the dash configuration so the steering wheel is on the right side… Glenna and I talked about facial cream, purses and other refinements of life 😉 Here’s some iPhone photos from the evening:

Yesterday morning I had a traumatic event while getting our Seattle Sutton breakfast out of the refrigerator… the left door fell off as I was closing it. It fell straight down and scared the bejeebers out of me… John came to my rescue and then proceeded to explain how I broke it by hitting it with my chair when I get up from the kitchen table…. I don’t believe him… What happened is that the bottom bracket that has a hole that the post on the fridge goes into broke away from the plastic housing it was screwed into to. John was able to do a quick temporary glue job using some left over epoxy… Then I stopped at a hardware store to get some more epoxy on the way home… It seems to be fine for now… John did call Norcold to find out how much a replacement door would cost – $750.00 plus shipping for just the door… not good…

Cool old hardware store that I stopped at... New Market Hardware...

This morning at work I spent 30 minutes packing up all of the personal items in my cube and hauled them out to the Subaru. I ended up with three copy machine paper boxes full of books and misc. stuff. I have a good collection of stuff where I can take the crappiest cube and get it done up so it is nice and usable – task light, fan, raiser for laptop, cordless mouse, and on and on…

Contemplating having to pack and haul out three boxes of stuff... I'm not amused....

Cube before packing up....

So that is about it… need to finish up laundry in next 30 minutes then get packed. John is leaving first thing in the morning – as soon as I leave, and he gets the final packing done. I will get out of work around 2:00pm because they are having a company wide “Town Hall Meeting” and want to have my departure done before it starts at 3:00pm. I will then travel up to Thomson, IL and spend a few days with my parents and then meet back up with John on Saturday.

Like John said in his last blog posting, we will be staying at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The location just can not be beat.. so going to make the best of “parking lot living”. I priced out some artificial grass – the expensive kind that is plush and 3 to 4 inches high… but John has forbidden me from ordering it… I think it would be cool…. along with some fake trees and some plastic pink flamingo’s from Menards….

Here’s a parting video… Dolly’s singing Traveling Thru at award show…
