This afternoon I packed up everything at my desk and brought it to my new desk at CIBER. My new desk is smaller, but it will work out fine. Here is a picture of my old desk before I packed everything up:

My coworkers put up the “We’ll Miss You Derek” signs and the paper chains…. I brought in some Culver’s Frozen Custard for everyone this afternoon…

After work I had supper with John (Casey’s Pizza) and then went to see “The Thin Man” at the Normal Theater. I was surprised to see how many people showed up to see a movie that is over 70 years old. The comedy stands the test of time and was a treat to watch. My favorite character in the movie was Asta the dog.

On July 1st and July 2nd they are showing “Yankee Doodle Dandy” – I hope someone will want to watch it with me…..

Yankee Doodle Dandy is a lively, sensational and dynamic film with exciting song and dance numbers and a tour de force performance by the high-pitched and energized James Cagney. The film tells the musical rags-to-riches life story and times of early 20th century entertainment legend George M. Cohan, following several generations of the Cohan family from the time of young Cohan’s vaudeville training on the road, through to his later success on Broadway (with the production of 40 Broadway shows and many hundreds of songs), and ending with his retirement and a comeback in the theatre in I’d Rather Be Right.

Tomorrow I want to be a “geocaching whore” and see how many caches I can find. Between geocaching I also need to clean house and get laundry done. The trailer has become a bit disorganized this week (doesn’t take much when you don’t have lots of room)……

I’m looking forward to going to the Pride Parade in Chicago on Sunday – been thinking about what to wear already…. hope we have good weather.

John did not fly again today – he mumbled something about the “ceiling being too low”…. He has to work from 8:00am to around 5:00pm tomorrow…..
